Name : Cardine Allesandi (née Fea Bhol)
Age: 25
Hometown: Lannith, Nithos
Family: No immediate family still alive. Born to the Bhol tribe on Krokith; whether any still remain is unknown to her.
Race: Daelanis (officially)
Description: Cardine of a fair complexion with long and wavy black hair. She prefers to wear it loose and flowing, but for propriaty's sake she often has to force it into a bun. Her eyes are hazel. Many of her features are soft, like many born to the tribes on Krokith, but she has a haughty way of holding herself that is considered a stereotype of Cerforden. It is an act, of course, learned from various inns and the like, but it seems to do the trick. In any case, precious few encountered the tribes of Krokith to know.
Personality: Cardine is good at disguising herself, finding it easy to slip from one role to another to such an extent that a close friend might even fail to recognise her. It is probably a good thing that she has no truly close friends to test that theory (although there are people who believe themselves to be close to her (i.e. other members of the Daelanis). To many around her she may seem warm, charismatic and persuasive, but when it comes down to business she carries things out with a cold precision. Any chance she sees to get one up on her oponents, she will take, be it legitimate or through foul play.
History: Fea grew up with one of the tribes on Krokith. Their way of life embraced the use of the Dae, teaching their children to live in harmony with it. Her parents were priests within the temple at the foot of the Ritenkian mountains. When she was younger she spent a vast amount of time exploring the labrynthine passageways and playing in the many fountains that littered the temple gardens. It was a happy life she had here.
Eventually it came to the attention of the elders that Fea herself was blessed with the Dae. Naturally her parents were ecstatic and initiated her training in it. It had been a long time since a new Derandera had been born to the Bhol tribe.
At age twelve things began to go awry. An army from Weskain arrived on the island, causing havoc with the local tribes. They pulled down the temple that Fea had once called home, whilst she sat in the shadows and watched.
Afraid that she would be killed if caught, Fea fled the tribal lands to seek refuge in the southern port of Taruwae. For months here she was reduced to the state of a street urchin, but eventually managed to steal passage on a ship bound for Weskain.
On Weskain, Fea refashioned herself into Cardine Allesandi - born and bred in a small, humble farming hamlet on Cerforden. Under this alias she signed up to the training ranks of the King's army, images of revenge toiling in her mind.
For three years she progressed well, proving herself a valiant fighter. Little did her tutors know that her magic played a great role in her fighting skills. Eventually the King himself took note of her progress and proceeded to raise her rankings. It all seemed too simple. From where she stood, age seventeen, it would not take much to become close enough to attempt assassination, yet to do so would simply cast Nicheitah into a state of disarray, and Cardine did not want that. She wanted to seize the power for herself and right the wrongs that had been done to her land.
For the next two years she used her influence to persaude Loton Proll that magic could be of use in battles if bent to the King's will. Not Derandera of course, but mortals learning to manipulate power (she had seen such things to a small extent on Krokith). It was risky, but turned out fruitful. Loton petitioned the King and the Daelanis were formed, chosen from a selection of the King's most trused confidants. Using her knowledge of the tribes on Krokith, Cardine nudged the Daelanis in the direction to discover how to use the Dae. The Krokith tribes had only ever used this power for small things - encouraging plants to grow and helping them to locate water - but the Daelanis were to take things a hundred times further.
Since then, Cardine has bided her time, following the King's commands to the letter. Yet over time her focus has shifted. No longer his her quest simply for justice. Her position as a Daelanis has given her a taste for power and she will stop at nothing to gain more. There are precious few that she trusts, and lesser still who she likes - not the monarchy and definitely not the snotty inhabitants of Wissnane they are told to battle against. Krokith is the only place still dear to her heart, and she will kill anyone who learns of her true origins. If anyone were to learn that she is truly a Derandera, it would be her undoing.
